- 1905 – A state Jim Crow law, authored by Pensacola legislators to segregate streetcars, is struck down as unconstitutional by the Florida Supreme Court.
- 1908 – Leander Shaw was hanged by a lynch-mob in Plaza Ferdinand VII for the alleged rape and murder of Lillie Davis.
- 1974 – Congressman Bob Sikes was reprimanded by the House of Representatives for failing to disclose financial ties to businesses who benefitted from government contracts he awarded.
- 1994 – Anti-abortion activist Paul Hill murdered Dr. John Britton and his bodyguard James Barrett.
