• 1816 – Andrew Jackson wrote to Pensacola's Spanish governor Mauricio de Zuñiga regarding the Negro Fort on the Apalachicola River.

• 2001 – H. K. Matthews led a protest of about 250 against the Pensacola Police Department over the shooting death of Andrena Kitt and thirteen other law enforcement fatalities.
