I'll look for dates about his Circuit Court Clerkship, but he was clerk at least as late as 1872 and 1877, when he was called to testify before the Electoral Commission regarding Frederick C. Humphreys, another Pensacola shipping commissioner, who was embroiled in the contentious 1876 presidential election as an elector for Hayes. I don't yet understand exactly what happened, but it sounds like an interesting story. --Admin 10:54, 15 April 2008 (CDT)
