Following Hobbs untimely death on January 12, 1984 it remained closed for several months, then reopened as Jere's hosted live Rock and Roll Showcase, and so changed its theme to hosting touring rock bands. Ownership was assumed by Hobbs sister, as well as locals Barbara McDuffie, and managed by former news reporter David Jenkins - who sang the closing number of House Of The Rising Sun with every band that performed there under his management.  Jere's hosted several local bands such as Flame and The Heaters, The Pilots, RMS Express, The Beach Monkeys, Slayer, and Baghdad. After approximately twelve years in business, the establishment closed in the spring of 1985. Not long after that, the building was demolished and a car wash was constructed.
