Following Hobbs untimely death on January 12, 1984 it remained closed for several months and then reopened as Jere's Rock and Roll Showcase, and so changed it's theme. Ownership was assumed by Hobbs sister, Barbara McDuffie, and managed by former news reporter David Jenkins - who sang the closing number of House Of The Rising Sun with every band that performed there under his management.
Jere's hosted live touring rock bands, as well as locals such as Flame and The Heaters, The Pilots, RMS Express, The Beach Monkeys, Slayer, and BagdadBaghdad. After approximately twelve years in business, the establishment closed in the spring of 1985. Not long after that, the building was demolished and a car wash was constructed.
