List of City of Pensacola ordinances, 1953

The following is a list of ordinances adopted by the City of Pensacola in 1953.

1-53	An ordinance to close, vacate, discontinue and abandon all that portion of Tunis Street in the City of Pensacola that lies between the east line of Sixteenth Avenue and the west line of Seventeenth Avenue, according to map of said city copyrighted by Oliver J. Semmes, Jr. in the year 1947.
2-53	An ordinance authorizing and making transfers and appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1953.
3-53	An ordinance authorizing a loan of not to exceed $45,000.00 from the utility deposit account to the sidewalk construction account; providing for the pledging of the proceeds of certain sidewalk assessment certificates to the payment thereof.
4-53	An ordinance authorizing and making transfers and appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1953.
5-53	An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 21-51 entitled: "An ordinance to provide for the grading, paving, hardsurfacing, curbing and otherwise improving certain streets in the City of Pensacola, dividing said streets into special assessment districts, and fixing the manner by which the owners of property abutting upon said streets shall contribute to the cost of such improvements, and providing for the issuance of negotiable special assessment certificates which shall constitute liens against the property described therein and benefited by such improvements, and prescribing the terms and conditions of said certificates," to provide for concrete paving of certain streets and to delete the assessment districts pertaining to Davis Street and to cancel the special assessment certificates based on said assessment districts hereby deleted.

Watson in 1906.

9-53	An ordinance amending Section 20.55 of the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Pensacola, Florida, 1950, to permit diagonal parking on Wright Street from Palafox Street to Hayne Street.
10-53	An ordinance providing for the method of qualifying and becoming a candidate for member of the City Council of the City of Pensacola, Florida in the primary and general elections of said city, for placing names of candidates on ballots in said elections, and limiting nominations to the primary election, and emergency clause.

12-53	An ordinance amending Section 3.11 (Ordinance No. 28-39) of the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Pensacola, Florida, 1950, to allow signs on the right-of-way of Navy Boulevard between "O" Street and the Frisco Railroad right-of-way, with provisions for limitation on signs and removal of signs.
13-53	An ordinance setting up election code for primary and general elections in the city; qualifications of candidates and electors; registration of electors; arrangements for polling places, clerks, inspectors, a canvassing board, and certification of results; notice of elections; opening and closing of polls; and absentee voting; and providing for severability; repealing clause; and emergency effective date.

15-53	An ordinance granting a lease from the City of Pensacola to Newport Industries, Inc., a corporation, for a term of twenty years from April 8, 1953, with a right of renewal for twenty years, of the following described land in the City of Pensacola, to-wit ... in consideration of the construction and operation thereon by lessee of a plant for the treatment of waste matter; and authorizing, approving and confirming the lease agreement entered into between the City of Pensacola and Newport Industries, Inc., dated April 8, 1953, of said property for said term.

18-53	An ordinance amending Section 15.1 Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Pensacola, Florida, 1950, (Ordinance No. 36-48) changing the gas rates on commercial heating service and industrial service.
19-53	An ordinance authorizing and making transfers and appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1953.
20-53	An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 24-52, entitled: "An ordinance adopting a pay schedule for all employees of the City of Pensacola under the jurisdiction of the City Council, providing salary range numbers and steps for pay increase, providing that no wages shall be reduced by the adoption hereof, setting an effective date and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith" by amending subsection (a) of Section 5 of said ordinance providing for the rule pertaining to an employee promoted from a lower pay range in a division to a higher pay range.
21-53	An ordinance amending Section 36.13 of the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Pensacola, Florida, 1950, sub-section 271 pertaining to licenses for newspapers published out of the city, distributed in and soliciting advertising for, within the city.
22-53	An ordinance amending a portion of Section B - Service Classification "GAS-3" - Commercial Gas Service of Section 15.1 of the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Pensacola, Florida, 1950, (Ordinance No. 36-48, Passed March 7, 1948) to correct the limitations of the rates used.
23-53	An ordinance increasing the pay classification of all regular employees controlled by Ordinance No. 24-52, and increasing the pay of all regular employees of the city not covered by said ordinance, and authorizing and making transfers and appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1953.
24-53	An ordinance amending Ordinance No. 24-52, entitled: "An ordinance adopting a pay schedule for all employees of the City of Pensacola under the jurisdiction of the City Council, providing salary range numbers and step for pay increase, providing that no wages shall be reduced by the adoption hereof, setting an effective date and repealing all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith" - by amending sub-section (a) of Section 5 of said ordinance providing for the rule pertaining to an employee promoted from a lower pay range in a division to a higher pay range, and repealing Ordinance No. 20-53, and authorizing and making transfers and appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1953.

27-53	An ordinance amending Section 35.3 of the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Pensacola, Florida, 1950, and amending the zoning map of Pensacola, Florida, and all notations, references and other information shown thereon and made a part of said ordinance by including in R-1 A - One and Two Family District, the property being the south one-half of Block 123 of the Pettersen Addition, according to the map of the City of Pensacola, Florida, copyrighted by Thomas C. Watson in 1906.

29-53	An ordinance increasing the pay classification of all future and new employees of the City of Pensacola controlled by Ordinance No. 24-52 who shall be employed by said city, and authorizing and making transfers and appropriations for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1953.
30-53	An ordinance amending Section 3.7 of the Charter and Code of Ordinances of the City of Pensacola, Florida, 1950; permitting the use of sound trucks and loudspeakers on the streets of the City of Pensacola for the purpose of informing the public of health and safety emergencies.
