The Steamboat House in 1974

The Steamboat House is the name most commonly used for the historic residence at 308 East Government Street, across from Seville Square, so-called for its boat-like architecture. It was built by Mexican businessman Dionicio Reach in 1881.[1]

Owned by attorney Michael J. Griffith,[2] it has been occupied by a number of businesses over the years, including the Steamboat House Gallery, Ginger Bender/Sassafras and Ty & KC.
