• January 4 – The Pensacola Opera House opens at the corner of Government and Jefferson Streets
• Alexander Clement Blount, Jr. joins his brother William Alexander Blount, Sr.'s law practice, forming Blount & Blount, the firm which is now Beggs & Lane, Florida's oldest continuous law practice.
• Several streets first lit by gas
• The Pensacola & Atlantic Railroad is completed
