Carissa Bergosh

Carissa Borders Bergosh is an educator and wife of former Escambia County School Board member Judge Gary Bergosh. On January 24, 2003, she was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush to serve in her husband's place during his deployment to Kuwait and Iraq. She yielded the seat to him on January 20, 2004.

Carissa is the adopted daughter of Ronald and Faye Borders. She graduated from Tate High School in 1985, received a bachelor of arts degree in communication from the University of West Florida and a master's degree in guidance counseling from the University of Memphis. She taught at Bellview Elementary School and headed the HOSTS mentoring program for students with reading disabilities. She currently works for Pensacola NAS as a School Liaison for military families. She and her husband Gary adopted their first child from a Russian orphanage in 2002.

Carissa is a member of the Leadership Pensacola (LeaP) class of 2011.
