The Reverend Dr. Henry P. Cook was the third pastor of the First Methodist Church of Pensacola.
Born in 1800 in Hancock County, Georgia, Cook converted to Methodism at the age of seventeen while attending a camp meeting near Sparta, Georgia. At the age of 20, he entered the travelling ministry. Prior to his appointment to the Pensacola mission he worked in Whitesand, Mississippi (near modern-day Prentiss), Opelousas, Louisiana, and Tombeckbee (Fort Tombecbe), Alabama.
