Sarah's was a women's boutique located in the Phenix Building at 517 South Palafox Street. It was owned and operated by Sarah Brown, who founded the business in 1986[date uncertain][1].
In 2003, Sarah and her husband Walter purchased the adjacent Trader Jon's building, intending to expand into the 3,500-square-foot ground floor of the Trader Jon's building for Sarah's, while leasing the upper floors of both buildings to other businesses.[2] However, after months of renovation work, Hurricane Ivan hit in September 2004, ripping an entire wall off the Sarah's building and damaging the roof of the Trader Jon's building. Brown leased a temporary location at 308 East Government Street, intending to return to Palafox,[3] but ultimately decided not to reopen Sarah's.
