The Philip Dane Beall Sr. Memorial Bridge, also known as the Pensacola Bay Bridge or colloquially as the Three-Mile Bridge, spans a three-mile section of Pensacola Bay and is the main artery from Pensacola to Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach.
The bridge was dedicated on October 31, 1960,[1] replacing the 30-year-old Thomas A. Johnson Bridge (which subsequently became a fishing pier).
It was named in honor of Florida Senator Philip D. Beall, Sr..
It was announced in 2010 that the bridge did not meet the Florida Bridge Safety Standards and there are now plans underway to build a new bridge.
