Within weeks of the [[Halloween Night Fire]], Brent had commissioned renderings from architect [[Hidgen Higdon Hawley]]. [[M. T. Lewman]] was hired as the general contractor. Work progressed quickly, and a [[March 25]], [[1906]] article in the ''[[Pensacola Journal]]'' predicted the building would be ready for lease by May. In fact, Brent received the keys on [[July 30]], and an open house was held on [[August 1]].
