1848/1849: participation in the Hungarian revolution (lieutenant of Artillery in the University-Legion); persecution by the Austrian gouvernment, capture and escape to France.
1850-1854 study of architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris (France).
1854-1856: architect and civil engineer in Paris.
1857: emigration to the United States of America.
1859: first marriage in Franklin (Ohio): Emelia Agneta Frederick.
1860: American citizenship and application for a passport (New York).
1860: together with his wife, return to Europe and (until 1864/1865) participation in the „international legion“ (Garbaldi, South-Italy) as first lieutenant.
