During [[Prohibition]], the area was a notorious haven for bootlegging, and Luke's Alley was the site of "several homicides and uncountable raids on crap or dice games, liquor resorts, cutting affrays, and minor law infractions generally."<ref>Judith A. The buildings on Luke's Alley were demolished circa 1940 to make way for the [[Aragon Court]] housing development, now the site of the [[Aragon]] neighborhood.The alley was formally vacated by the City of Pensacola in [[1941]].<ref>Resolution dated 01/22/1941, City of Pensacola.</ref>
