:Yeah, it's the old Blount Junior High School built in 1937 (expanded from the earlier Lockley Elementary School built in 1915). Closed around '82, it was purchased from the school district by Frank McGinley for about $5000 "as-is." McGinley was going to turn it into retirement apartments and spent about $250k removing asbestos and fixing it up, and even lived in it for a while, but ran out of money. After Hurricane Ivan some investors bought the property for $400k. Source: "'Dinosaur' of an old school becomes home to ex-student." ::It's really beautiful. I discovered it haphazardly while canvassing during the election but didn't have time to linger. I went back by yesterday. I really, really hope someone manages to salvage it, but it looks like it's in pretty bad shape. I'm going to work up an article, do you have a way to forward me that PNJ article? Also, it's named after A.C., not W.A. Blount, right? — dscosson • talk 17:43, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
::Nevermind on the name, it's W. A. after all. — dscosson • talk 18:05, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
