The city is administered by a City of Pensacola operates using the [[Pensacola City ManagerWikipedia:Council-manager government|city council-managerform of government]], appointed . The city is governed by the [[Pensacola City Council]], a ten-member legislative body. The council in turn appoints a [[Pensacola City Manager|city manager]], who is responsible for the day-to-day administration of City operations. The City Council is divided into comprised of seven electoral districtsmembers elected by district, each of which elects a council member. Two council seats are two elected at-large and are elected by the entire city. The final council seat , and is held chaired by the largely ceremonial but [[Mayor of Pensacola]], whom is also elected at-large and is a voting member of the council. Prior to changes made by referendum in [[2001]], the mayor was appointed by Council rather than elected, and in his place was a third at-large member of Pensacola|mayorcouncil. Prior to [[1983]], who chairs all ten council members were elected at-large by the Councilentire city.
