It was inspired by "A Night in Old San Antonio" (or [http://www.niosa.org/ NIOSA]), which [[Carolyn Fleming|Carolyn]] and [[Jack Fleming]] had seen during a trip to the Texas city. The festival was largely succeeded by the [[Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival]] in [[1973]], but the "Evening" was revived in [[1981]] for the [[Galvez Bicentennial Celebration]] and for subsequent [[Fourth of July]] events of the 1980s. In [[1987]], [[Jim Tanck]] revived the entertainment element of the old "Evening" as [[Evenings in Olde Seville Square]], a concert series held every Thursday during the summer months.
