The Silver Screen Theatre[http://www.silverscreentheatre.com]is was Escambia county's only final locally owned and operated movie theatre. It is was also Escambia county's longest running movie theatre. The theater features featured first-run movies at a discounted price. It was once known for its frequent showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show. <br><br> In September 2013, the owners announced the closure of the theatre.<ref>http://www.northescambia.com/2013/09/iconic-silver-screen-theatre-closes-after-30-years</ref> It's believed to have closed due to the high cost of digital projectors.
