this is terry from sluggo's - this page is wonderful and i appreciate it so much! there was one change i had to make however and that was that nick did not join in the fun until we opened on tarragon

The club was established by [[Terry Johnson]] and [[Nick Flynn]] in 1988{{date uncertain}} as 1988as '''Victor Hugo's'''. The name was changed to Sluggo's in March [[1990]], when Nick Flynn joined as a partner. (Sluggo is a character from the [[Wikipedia:Nancy (comic strip)|''Nancy'' comic strip]]. He is a poor boy from the "wrong side of the tracks.")
Originally located at 319 North [[Tarragona Street]] (now the [[HandleBar]]), the club moved to [[Intendencia Street]] in [[1993]] and again to [[130 South Palafox Street|130 South]] [[Palafox Street]] in [[1995]]. It left the Palafox location in June [[2000]], citing rising rent from the building's landlord, who wanted to bring in new businesses, and hostility from the [[Downtown Improvement Board]].<ref>"[http://www.inweekly.net/article.asp?artID=31 Sucker Punch]."
