Ventilated Awnings
Ventilated Awnings began as a means to support the Choat family and to create job opportunities in the community. With a three state territory, Al, Iva and their two sons Dale and Clyde, began building redwood awnings.
It was 1942, the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor and America had entered World War II. While Al was building the business, Clyde and Dale enlisted in the military and set out to serve their country.
When World War II ended in 1945, the boys came home. The family business was doing well, but needed to expand to support the growing family. Clyde and his wife Penny moved to Pensacola, FL.; Dale stayed in Gulfport, Ms., to help his dad. Clyde and his two sons, Buddy and Doug, opened the third branch in fort Walton Beach, Fl. In 1985, expanding their business further. Pensacola eventually became the home office; and in 1992 , they acquired the Gulfport branch from their Uncle Dale, who retired.
Throughout recessions and booms, the business has continued to provide job opportunities and quality customer service. It has remained a privately held corporation, owned and operated by the same family-Al's son Clyde, his two sons Buddy and Doug, And Buddy's daughter Heather. Four generations later Ventilated Awnings is the largest and oldest remodeler on the Northern Gulf Coast. We are nationally ranked as a "Top 500 Remodeler" a distinction reserved for the best companies in the USA.
More than 65 years or success has not been a fluke or luck, it has required hard work, dedication, commitment to family and remembering the common sense of the founder, Al Choat (Grandpa).
The northern Gulf Coast is one of the most beautiful areas in the US. It's also the most corrosive environment in the US. The Gulf Coast experiences severe thunderstorms with hail and high winds, waterspouts and tornados, deep freezes and occasional ice storms, hurricanes, high salinity, and high humidity. The exterior of every Gulf Coast home is subjected to these forces every year.
At Ventilated Awnings we have been protecting homes and businesses for over 65 years. Our improvements not only stand the test of our environment, they are designed for disaster resistance and protection.
Outlasting almost all of our competitors , we remain one of only a few still manufacturing aluminum slatted awnings. Residential and Commercial awnings are still a specialty.
We now also offer canvas awnings in a wide variety of styles and colors to complement any style of home or business while shading your openings from the sun's harmful UV rays.
Hurricane shutters are designed to protect openings from flying debris, high winds, and reduce the effects of wind driven rain damage. Whether you are protecting your home or business it is critical to use a contractor who not only understands shutter systems but also understands how to correctly install them. Ventilated Awnings started installing shutter systems in 1965, we were the first contractor to ofer Miami-Dade Impact resistant systems when standards were changed in 1994. More and more owners are choosing Ventilated Awnings due to our unmatched experience, detailed estimates, detailed specifications, and having the largest line of shutter systems available doesn't hurt.
Carports, boat, RV and patio cover are availble for home, commercial and institutional customers. Configurations include attached and free standing with flat, gable and gambrel roof shapes. Insulated and roll-form aluminum structures are available as well as all steel sturctures. Most sturctures are also adaptable to include side walls or built-in sheds.
