LGBT (or GLBT) is an initialism referring collectively to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. It is increasingly used in place of the phrase "gay community" to refer to groups and individuals who are non-heterosexual.

  • July 4, 1974 – Thousands of gay rights activists assemble in Pensacola for a "national convention,"[1] an antecedent of the Memorial Day Weekend festivities. Police arrest dozens in raids of local gay bars.[2]
