- 1861 – Civil War: Federal troops receive orders to abandon the mainland's Fort Barrancas and refortify on Santa Rosa Island's Fort Pickens. The communication is not intercepted by Confederate troops because it was "in a pink, scented envelope addressed by a female hand."[1]
- 1986 - Rock band RUSH performs at the Pensacola Civic Center. Opening act was the Steve Morse Band.
- 1999 – Roy Jones, Jr. defeats Rick Frazier (KO) at the Pensacola Civic Center.
