Joseph Etienne (Stephan) Kauser 1830: birth in Budapest (Hungary; known roots of his family: from early 17th century). 1848/1849: participation in the Hungarian revolution (lieutenant of Artillery in the University-Legion); persecution by the Austrian gouvernment, capture and escape to France. 1850-1854 study of architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris (France). 1854-1856: architect and civil engineer in Paris. 1857: emigration to the United States of America. 1859: first marriage in Franklin (Ohio): Emelia Agneta Frederick. 1860: American citizenship and application for a passport (New York). 1860: together with his wife, return to Europe and (until 1864/1865) participation in the „international legion“ (Garbaldi, South-Italy) as first lieutenant. 1866-1888: work as architect and civil engineer; with his family in Budapest (Hungary), Corinth (Greece) and Paris (France). 1869-1874: US Consulate-agent in Budapest (Hungary). 1870: second marriage in Kassa / Kosice: Berta Gerster, a famous soprano. 1871: birth of his daughter Alice Berta in Budapest. 1873: birth of his son Georg Washington in Budapest. 1873-1882: participation in the construction of the Ferenc-channel (Hungary). 1882-1884: together with Istvan Türr and Bela Gerster, participation (as senior civil engineer) in the construction of the Corinth-channel (Greece). 1885: birth of his son Benjamin Franklin in Paris. 1885 death of his wife Berta Gerster in Paris. 1888: emigration with his three children (Alice, George and Benjamin) to Pensacola, Florida. 1889: publication of his "map of the three Americas" in Pensacola. 1890: a fire destroys many homes in Pensacola, including that of J.E Kauser. 1891: in March: "well-known 'local virtuoso' Miss Alice Kauser [daughter of Joseph E. Kauser] played a piano solo" (source: Pensapedia: Lee Square) 1893 / 1894 Alice Kauser (his daughter) goes from Pensacola to New York and becomes a famous theatre- and literature-agent. 1893: J. E. Kauser produces a map of East-Pensacola, which until now has validity. Land sales still refer to this map. 1893/94: J.E. Kauser lives with his son George in the Cushman's Alley (today Deluna alley) in Pensacola. 1893: J .E. Kauser receives a patent for a Dredging apparatus. 1893: J. E. Kauser is inspector of Dredging, Port of Pensacola. 1897: J. E. Kauser is Inspector in Warrington (Pensacola). 1899: J. E. Kauser is Overseer in Fort McRee (Pensacola). 1901: J. E. Kauser's claim of 80 acres (public domain): Florida Section 24 T1S 30 W. 1905: death in New Orleans. 1909 / 1910: Alice Kauser (his daughter) administers the estate of her father in Pensacola (Esambia).
