- 1781 – Siege of Pensacola: Bernardo de Gálvez began direct assaults on British Fort George.
- 1862 – Civil War: Upon learning that Union commander David Farragut's fleet was anchored off Mobile Bay, Colonel Thomas Jones quickly removed most of the Confederate artillery and supplies from Pensacola.
