Escambia Bay is a bay located east of southern Escambia County and west of southern Santa Rosa County. Along with the Escambia River, which feeds into the bay, it divides the two counties. Escambia Bay is connected to the East Bay to the southeast and deposits into Pensacola Bay to the southwest.
National Airlines Flight 193, a Boeing 727, crashed into Escambia Bay during a descent into Pensacola Regional Airport on May 8, 1978. There were 3 fatalities among the 58 people on board.
Interstate 10 is currently carried by the David Bogan Bridge over the bay. A previous bridge was heavily damaged by storm surge during Hurricane Ivan.
