• 1781 – Siege of Pensacola: Bernardo de Gálvez began direct assaults on British Fort George.
• 1862 – Civil War: Upon learning that Union commander David Farragut's fleet was anchored off Mobile Bay, Colonel Thomas Jones quickly removed most of the Confederate artillery and supplies from Pensacola.
• 1914 – Blue Robinson (founder of Blue Dot Barbecue) was born.
• 2007 – Felony racketeering was added to the charges against disbarred attorney Vince Whibbs, Jr.
