- 1907 – Incumbent Pensacola Mayor Charles Henry Bliss died and was succeeded by Calvin C. Goodman.
- 1973 – U.S. District Court Judge Winston Arnow ruled that Escambia High School's "Rebel" mascot, the school song "Dixie" and the Confederate flag were "racially irritating" symbols and barred their use.
