- 1948 – The first students at Pensacola Junior College register for classes.
- 1988 – In an emergency meeting, Escambia County Commissioners vote 4-1 to issue a county-wide ban on the The Last Temptation of Christ film, with a possible $500 fine and/or 60 days in jail for violators.[1]
