- 1899 – A fire in Fort Pickens detonates 8,000 pounds of powder in the Bastion D magazine, killing one soldier, reducing the entire bastion to rubble and propelling bricks from its walls as far as Fort Barrancas across the bay.
- 2005 – A row of buildings owned by George Overby that were heavily damaged in Hurricane Ivan and then a fire are razed to make way for the Floridian condominium.
