Their original lineup included singer/guitarist Fritz Severin, lead guitarist Vic Valmus, bassist Doug Merritt, drummer Ken Darnell, and keyboardist Mac McCraney. After approximately one year, McCraney left the band and was replaced by Mark Steinziek, who had previously spent some time as their sound engineer. Valmus was next to leave, and join Atlanta-based band The Heat. Soon afterward, Severin took a solo gig playing piano at Flounder's Restaurant on Pensacola Beach.
McCraney, Valmus, Merritt, and Darnell reunited for the first annual Pensacola Musicians Memorial concert on May 24, 2010, at Paradise Bar and Grill on Pensacola Beach, and all five original members reunited again at the 2011 Pensacola Musicians Memorial show on May 23, 2011 at Seville Quarter in downtown Pensacola. On May 28, 2012 four of the original members, without Severin, performed at the 3rd third annual Pensacola Musicians Memorial at Flounder's on Pensacola Beach. On May 19, 2013 all original members again reunited for the 4th fourth annual Pensacola Musicians Memorial concert which was held at Chan's Saloon on 9 Mile Rd, and at the fifth Musicians Memorial held on May 25, 2014 at The Dock on Pensacola Beach. The Heaters, without Fritz Sevberin, also performed at the sixth annual Pensacola Musicians Memorial concert on Sunday, May 17, 2015 which was held at The Dock on Pensacola Beach.
