It was his interest in computers that led to the purchase of his first keyboard (an Ensoniq ESQ-1) in 2005. He has been involved in a number of musical projects including the electro-industrial band Finite Automata, the industrial noise project Vimana Cult, and the parody-techno band Wizard Cock.
In 2006 he began to pursue the arts and took the pseudonym Mod Eschar, and founded the electro-industrial group Finite Automata. In 2007, he was joined by long time friend Chris Stanley, who took the pseudonym (c.) Grendel. To this day the two are regarded as Finite Automata's founding members.
On stage Eschar is known for his wild and confrontational stage antics. His artwork and lyrical style is often referred to as convoluted , misogynistic and fatalistic.
Eschar's stage moniker is a bastardization of his name with Mod being his first name spelled backwards, and his last name spelled backwards Ecirp resembling the word Eschar, a medical term for a scabby gangrenous wound. His reasoning for the pseudonym is artistic as it reflects the negative aspects of Price's personality; which he prefers to keep separated from his professional life as a programmer.
