[[City Field]] was an OLF (outlying landing field) used by the Navy up until the early 40s. I want to try to pin down its location. Tell me what you think of my deductions...
Map at right is from [http://www.airfields-freeman.com/FL/Airfields_FL_Pensacola_W.html]. Below is an aerial photo (1940) from the same page. It states: "A road (present-day Davis Highway) cuts through the middle of the field." You can also see [[Jordan Street]] marked to the south. What I assume is [[Bayou Texar]] is off to the east. From this I think I can gather the following:
*The east-west road bordering the field on the north is present-day [[Fairfield Drive]].
*The north-south road bordering the field on the east is [[9th Avenue]].
*The north-south road slightly east of that road is [[12th Avenue]].
*The east-west road linking those two is [[Barcia Drive]].
*The north-south road in the left hand side of the map is [[Palafox Street]].
So this is what I'm estimating:
