Salvador Ruby
Salvador Ruby (1765-?) was a Louisiana Creole from New Orleans who, after joining the militia in 1779, served in the military campaigns of Bernardo de Gálvez, including the 1781 siege of Pensacola, during which he led a brigade of Creoles against the British forces.
By June 23, 1816, Ruby was commanding officer of a militia unit in Pensacola comprised of free people of color.
