- 1861 – Battle of Santa Rosa Island: A Confederate force of over 1,000 men under general Richard H. Anderson set out from Pensacola, landing on Santa Rosa Island about four miles east of Union-held Fort Pickens.
- 1968 - Country music stars Porter Wagoner, Hank Locklin, and newcomer Dolly Parton performed for a benefit held at the Green Acres Pony Track and Country Club, located off Old Pollard Road, in Jay.
