- 1835 – Navy Yard designer Alexander James Dallas is transferred to command of the West Indian squadron.[1]
- 1868 – The Pensacola & Louisville Railroad Company is incorporated by the Florida legislaure.
- 1967 – A fire at the Jay Prison Camp kills 38 inmates.
- 1973 - Southern rock music icon Black Oak Arkansas performed at the Municipal Auditorium. Country-rock artist Charlie Daniels was a supporting act, and New Orleans-based folk singer Les Moore opened the evening.
