- 1984 – Santa Rosa County Commissioner Leroy Johnson, father of State Representative Bolley "Bo" Johnson, is charged with contracting the murder of public works director Ben Henry Pooley, whose "death" was faked by local law enforcement.
- 2007 – The Escambia County Commission votes to take over full control of the West Florida Public Library system, while shifting the Escambia County Area Transit bus system to the City of Pensacola, which had not yet approved the deal.
