  • 1861Fort Pickens receives supplies and troop reinforcements from the USS Powhatan. Confederate Brigadier General Braxton E. Bragg imposes martial law in Pensacola, stopping all trade and communications with the Union-held fortress.
  • 1987 - Recent Grammy Award winner Bruce Hornsby performed on Pensacola Beach, to his biggest audience to date.
  • 2005 - Country / pop music artist Kenny Rogers performed a benefit concert at the civic center, for Hurricane Ivan relief.
