East end: | 17th Avenue |
Belmont Street's western terminus is at Wiggins Avenue with an ultimate eastern terminus at 17th Avenue near Bayou Texar, just north of the 17th Avenue railroad trestle. However, the street is interrupted at several points:
- From a point east of Wiggins Avenue to V Street
- By St. John's Cemetery, for five blocks, between L Street and G Street. The main cemetery drive, accessible by vehicle, is coincident with Belmont Street.
- By Interstate I-110 and the CSX Railroad tracks, for one block, between Tarragona Street and Hayne Street.
- By Lions Park, for one block, between 12th and 13th Avenue.
Prior to the renaming of streets in 1906, East Belmont Street was known as 1st Street; West Belmont Street was known as Forbes Street.
