I have found several references to a "DeLuna Street" in 1906 issues of the Pensacola Journal, most often as small ads encouraging businesses to locate there, but now noticeably as a banner headline on the August 8, 1906 Journal, proclaiming that the offices of the Journal had relocated to Intendencia and DeLuna Streets. I am curious to locate where the street was. Where I am thinking is what is now a City alley, called DeLuna alley, that runs from Intendencia south for about 100 feet behind Ragtyme Grill, parallel to Jefferson. Keeping in mind that Jefferson did not extend that far north in 1906, that may be it. If so, though, strange that a little alley is all that remains of it. — dscosson • talk 00:11, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Noticed those "it's the new Palafox!" ads in the Journal issues and wondered myself. I found this reference to the street, talking about the corner of "intendencia Street and Reache's Way, now Deluna Street." That seems to confirm it's another name for Cushman's Alley, around what is now Jefferson. — admin • talk 04:07, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, this is true. It's reflected on the 1906 Watson map. I wonder why those ads were making such a fuss of it if it was just a little one block street? Anyway, we have the article right now at Cushman's Alley. I would prefer to put the article at De Luna Street or De Luna Alley (the current City verbiage). Thoughts? — dscosson • talk 01:20, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- I guess the current name makes the most sense, but am fine with any. — admin • talk 04:03, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Just out of curiousity -- why does it make the most sense? — dscosson • talk 13:28, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
- Wait, do you mean the current name as in Cushman's alley (the current name we have the article at) or the current name as in De Luna Alley (the City's current name)? — dscosson • talk 13:28, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
