Malcolm Thomas
Malcolm Thomas is the current Superintendent of Schools for the Escambia County School District, a position he has held since taking office on November 18, 2008.

Career
After graduating from Tate High School, Thomas served in the U.S. Army, with the 101st Airborne Division. Thomas later worked briefly as a homebuilder before becoming a teacher. He taught special education at Tate High School for eight years, during which time he was Escambia Teacher of the Year and a finalist for Florida Teacher of the Year. In 1987 he left classroom teaching to join the district administration, where he served until his election in 2008 as Superintendent. His last position with the district administration prior to taking office as Superintendent was Director of Evaluation Services.
Education
Thomas graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelors' degree in 1979, and completed his masters' degree in 1984.
