Confirm Edit Utility

8/21/07 - Added a captcha utility to block automated spammers. It will ask you to type a code whenever an account is created or a link is added to an article. In the latter case, I think I can tweak a setting where it doesn't force sysops to enter the code, or anyone whose email address has been confirmed. I will check on this. --Admin 14:04, 21 August 2007 (CDT)

June 29: 1,000th article

Pensapedia registered it's 1,000th "article" at 19:24 UTC on June 29, 2007. The article is Elias Durnford. dcosson ··· talk 14:26, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

June 21-22 Outage

Sorry about that, folks! In the words of Han Solo, "It's not my fault!" --Admin 14:06, 22 June 2007 (CDT)

Google Maps default setting

I changed the default map setting of our Google Maps installation from "hybrid" (which shows streets on top of satellite imagery) to "map" (which is streets only). All the satellite copyright information was breaking out of the infobox maps and flowing into the articles, making them harder to read. We can still use satellite imagery, but you now have to specify. --Admin 13:29, 8 December 2007 (CST)

.com and .org redirects

I noticed in the incoming traffic logs that a Google search for "Pensacola city limits" yielded results linking (for some reason) to the "pensapedia.org" version of the page. (The .org domain is registered and parked to point to the main .com domain.) However, since the Maps extension has an API key that only works for the pensapedia.com domain, people who clicked there were seeing an error. I tinkered around in the .htaccess file, and I think I've got it fixed to redirect all .org requests to their .com equivalent, but please let me know if you encounter any errors. --Admin 13:20, 25 April 2008 (CDT)
