The Pushrods was a car club that operated in the Brent area in the mid-to-late 1950's. They had a membership criteria, built the first strip, and raced there on weekends. They also had their own custom front tags created, and made of cast aluminum. The tags measured 8.5" x 5.25" x 1/4", and were painted in two-tone colors to match the vehicle to which they were affixed. After several years, the club disbanded. For many years afterward, more than a few Pensacola police officers reminisced how they "used to run those boys in!". A tag that was purchased from an original Pushrods member in 1979 for $10 was sold in 2009 for $100.
