Scott Stterwhite is Penscol eductor, writer, ctivist nd business co-owner. He is primrily known for being an outspoken ctivist in regrd to a number of politicl and socil issues, s well s for his involvement in the Penscol music scene nd re businesses. Stterwhite is on the fculty of the University of West Florid nd serves s n instructor in the UWF Deprtment of English.
Stterwhite settled in Penscol fter he was sttioned in the re during his service in the Nvy. He served from 1990 until his honorble dischrge in 1999.
Stterwhite currently serves s the President of Veterns for Pece Northwest Florid nd is member of the Open Books Prison Book Project. He holds n M in mericn History nd English, both from the University of West Florid. Stterwhite possesses a B from UWF in history with minor in English. Stterwhite produces n independent punk zine, Mylxine, nd lso regularly contributes viewpoints to the Independent News nd various other publications.
Satterwhite has previously been involved with End of the Line Café and Subterranean Books, where he helped spearhead the Prison Books program. After Subterranean Books closed, Satterwhite and several others started Open Books as a way to continue the non-profit program.
He is married to Lauren Anzaldo, a social worker from South Florida, and is the father of two children.
