In the news 2010 general elections: Ashton Hayward (pictured) is elected the first strong mayor of Pensacola. Escambia County Sheriff's Deputy Jeremy Cassady is critically wounded in a shootout with Philip Monier during a home invasion. Leonard Gonzalez, Jr. is convicted of murder for the July 9, 2009 killings of Byrd and Melanie Billings.
