Founded in 1969 in the former nursing school of the old Sacred Heart Hospital at 900 N.Twelfth Avenue. A private college preparatory school that required academic testing for entrance.

Grades 9-12 initially, expanded to 7-12.

Cost about $1,000 per student per year.

Not to be confused with the School of Liberal Arts, aka "Holston's". The School of Liberal Arts was in the old Sacred Heart Hospital itself.

Frank Hardy, photographer, took individual pictures for students for the P.A.A.S. yearbook for many years. He's posted about "the Academy" here: http://frankhardymademyphotographstwo.com/tag/pensacola-academy-of-arts-and-sciences/

The Academy closed in 1975.

The building sat empty for many years, but is now the home of Saltmarsh, Cleaveland and Gund CPAs.
