George Edgar Wentworth (March 14, 1842 - October 14, 1881) was the second Escambia County Sheriff.
Wentworth was active in the community and served in many roles. He was elected to the Florida State Senate in 1868 and appointed U.S. Marshall in 1869, the same year he began his tenure as Sheriff. He was an Internal Revenue collector and Clerk of the U.S. Court at the time of his death.
His wife was Susan Weatherbee Parker Wentworth. They were married March 19, 1864 and had six children: Nancy Louise, Alice Kate, Ellie Grace, George Parker, Warren Pierce and Emma Annie.
