- 1861 – Civil War: State troops seized Fort Marion at St. Augustine. Adam Slemmer meets with the command of the Navy Yard as to what action should be taken in case local citizens and/or militia try to take possession of the Yard, or any of the forts.
- 1862 – Union troops at Fort Pickens bombard the Confederate-held Fort Barrancas with cannon fire.
- 1977 – Joe Mooney begins his service as the first Escambia County Administrator.
