MARK DEAN

Best known in Pensacola as a local radio personality. For years, Mark Dean was live on-location from every night club, concert, beach event, business promotion, or downtown parade. He also DJ-ed and MC-ed at various Pensacola night clubs. Mark now lives in Orlando, FL, where he is a business owner, advocate for local businesses, civic volunteer, and public speaker.

Well, whoever had the bright idea to place the number one beer bar (the Phyrst) directly across the street from the freshman dorm (Landis) will get full credit for Mark having "too much fun" his first year in Tallahassee. Going to classes quickly became extra-curricular. After 3 quarters of less than stellar performance from this honor student on academic scholarship, he was placed on academic probation. And Pensacola was calling him home.  While home on Spring Break, Mark attended a beer and oyster party at a friend's house. Little did he know that the 3 dozen oysters that they got straight off the boat at the Pensacola docks were not sanitary. He headed back to Tallahassee, where he never made it past roll call at his first class. He was admitted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with bacillary dysentery. After 5 days in the hospital, he returned to Pensacola.' '</p>

-   Mark and Pat met at the age of 15, as summer camp couselors at Lake Yale Baptist Assembly, in Leesburg, FL. They dated in 1979 and 1980, but Mark knew that he was headed off to college and his future career in radio. Then in November 2000, something magical happened. (insert Oprah story here). She returned from Switzerland, and finally agreed to go to lunch with him. As they walked down the beach where they had kissed 20 years ago, Mark reached out his hand to help her step over a pylon. There were sparks in their touch. A year and a half later, they were engaged at the exact same spot. Patricia moved from Washington, D.C. back to Florida. They were married on the dock at the summer camp where they had met all of those years ago, where they had spent countless nights under the stars, just holding one another.
