Jere's Lounge had previously been a hair salon which was owned by cosmetologist Jere Hobbs and located in the 6400 block of 9th Avenue. Until the early 1980's, it advertised both topless dancers and a country music band. Following Hobbs untimely death in 1982, the name was changed to Jere's Rock and Roll Showcase, and so changed it's theme.
